IFA-DFI is an Institute of Engineering Sciences, providing education, research and consulting activities in the fields of construction, architecture, environmental sciences, financial and information management.

It counts 5 permanent staff and 62 full-time students, among which 6 international students.

IFA-DFI offers Bachelor’s Master’s and Engineering programs in Armenian, French and/or  English. All IFA-DFI degrees are accredited by the Armenian Ministry of Education and recognized internationally.

IFA-DFI is located on the European campus after Robert Shuman, which offers many facilities: 3 conference halls with multimedia facilities, 2 restaurants, 3 libraries, a sports complex, a medical center, students associations, etc. IFA-DFI offers international students a tailor-made welcome and orientation program: intensive French, English, Armenian or Russian, and intercultural communication courses, integration with students associations, Treasure Hunt, assistance with all administrative requirements, etc.


Yerevan is located in the heart of a Caucasian Region, often called «the crossroad of Europe and Asia». Neighboring Countries of Armenia are Georgia in the North, Iran  in the South.

From ancient times, Armenians have cherished their artistic traditions, which reflect a unique culture and landscape. Aspects of everyday life are expressed in the most artistic fashion, in needlework, embellishments, carvings and design.  Armenia was the first country to adopt Christianity as its official religion in AD 301.

Architecture is one of the most interesting art forms in Armenia, as, for example, churches bear artistic illustrations in frescoes and reliefs. Sculpting is everywhere – in nearly every city, town, and village in Armenia. Armenia is rich in copper, coal, iron, bauxite, molybdenum, gold, silver, lead and zinc. Substantial deposits of pumice, marble, tufa, perlite, limestone, basalt and salt exist. Precious and semi-precious stones are also abundant.

The applied sciences such as physics, mathematics and engineering are the main developed branches in the scientific and educational system of Armenia. The integration into EHEA and the management of the higher education system according to ECTS is of the utmost importance for Armenia.

Thanks to bilateral partnership agreements, students and professors to have exchanges with universities in France. Internships and meetings with the partners provide the opportunities to learn to work in a new environment, using strong national bases.

Improving personal experience

Part of the engineer job is to consider the economic, human and social aspects. It enables to understand issues. The engineer must offer the right solutions, which means those that meet the customers’ needs, the collaborators capabilities, and take the global context into account. That is the reason why IFA-DFI training includes management courses and the history of sciences.

Integration in research

Our research center is to improve the training skills and meet the companies’ needs. Our goal is to make engineer to be able to take into account environment characteristics, and seismic risk, for instance, to propose and develop the best solutions, based on the latest tools

IFA-DFI Brief Review

Educational programs carried out at the Institute were developed in accordance with international educational standards under the support and participation of Ministry of Education and Science of RA, Academic partner Universities from France (Ecole des Hautes Etudes d’Ingénieur, École supérieure d’ingénieurs en génie électrique, Ecole Nationale des travaux publics de l’Etat, Ecole du Bâtiment et des travaux publics, Ecole Supérieure d’Ingénieurs de Marseille,  L’Ecole Centrale de Lyon), partner Universities from other European countries.

The studies at the Institute are carried out by the optimal combination of European and Armenian curricula, the teaching and evaluation of the students’ knowledge – by the European methodology. The ECTS system existing in the Institute will enable the students of IFA-DFI to continue their studies also in other European institutions of higher education. In Institute studied students from the different countries of the Caucasian region and also from Iran.

Besides the majors, teaching of English and French languages is included in the curriculum. The majors will be taught in English or French starting from the third year of education. The program of the foreign languages teaching was developed in accordance with the specific features of the IFA-DFI curricula under the support and active participation of the Alliance Frances and British Council.

Computer rooms equipped with the newest computer models and accessories are found at the Institute. The Institute has a high quality Internet connection. The satellite installed in the Institute provides the students with an opportunity to watch news, films and documentaries broadcasted from France and different European countries.

Those having completed the whole course of the institute successfully will get French and Armenian state diplomas which are correspondingly recognized in the countries of European Union and Armenia. The educational system of the Institute consists of two stages. The graduates are awarded the Bachelor’s degree and can continue their studies. The successful ones will get Master’s degree.

In the Faculty of Architecture and Design, students think not only about whether a structure is beautiful, but also about what it means to engage in architectural design for humans such that structures offer functional excellence, comfort, and ease of use. They learn about architectural device design; the interior design of homes and businesses; living environment design for seniors and other target populations; and design issues relevant to the preservation and reproduction of important buildings. Students must also generate new designs.

 Financial Engineering FI

Our internationally oriented program is designed to provide you with an excellent academic and practical education, as well as with a promising outlook for a future career in today’s challenging and dynamic financial markets. Throughout the program, a well-balanced curriculum builds strong quantitative skills coupled with a solid knowledge base of the underlying theory of finance. Students acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to use mathematical models to comprehend complex financial problems and learn how to apply these models in the field of economic sciences.

ITManagement of Information Systems

The purpose of the MIS is to produce graduates who are able to combine their general business knowledge with the latest information systems tools and techniques to enable organizations to compete strongly in the global marketplace. Graduates, through the use of concentrations in their programs of study, will be prepared for careers in a variety of areas such as information systems management, consulting, project management, database management, business process design, systems development and mobile systems development.

The Faculty has two areas of study:

The Civil Engineering program at IFA-DFI is designed to provide the basic undergraduate  and graduate level education required for private and public service in civil engineering, and/or continue formal education. Emphasis is placed on the fundamentals of civil engineering principles and design techniques. The program requirements allow for flexible scheduling, enabling students to focus on one of following concentration areas: construction, environmental, general, and structural. Study through these areas may lead to opportunities as structural designers for buildings and infrastructures, project engineers for construction projects, or representatives for owners or contractors. Employers include consulting firms, contractors, industry, and governments.
